- Compare like with like: the same product format, quantity unit, cannabinoid basis, tax treatment, and point in time.
- Cost per unit and cost per gram or milliliter normalize package size. Cost per 100 labeled milligrams only normalizes a stated label total; it does not measure delivered dose, effect, purity, or value.
- A valid shortlist still needs licensed seller verification, exact lot identity, a complete certificate, ingredients, dates, storage, recall checks, and return or complaint routes.
- The calculator runs in the browser, starts at zero, accepts blanks safely, and does not send or save the entries.

Use grams with grams, milliliters with milliliters, or another identical net-quantity basis. Use the same pre-tax or after-tax convention for every price. Leave cannabinoid milligrams blank when the label basis does not support a valid total. Results update locally and are not stored.
Math check: for a $30 five-count package with 2.5 net grams and 500 labeled milligrams, the results are $6.00 per unit, $12.00 per net gram, and $6.00 per 100 labeled milligrams.
Choose a comparison basis before entering numbers

Do not put flower percentage beside edible milligrams or milliliters beside grams and call the result normalized. A package may report THC, THCA, total THC, CBD, or another cannabinoid on different bases. Use the label guide and THCA versus THC guide before entering a total.
Keep the non-price gates beside the arithmetic
- Legal source.
Verify the exact seller, address, and channel through the responsible regulator. A copied logo or map pin is not a license check.
- Exact identity.
Match producer, product, format, count, net quantity, ingredients, lot, and dates across package, receipt, and certificate.
- Complete evidence.
Open the full, final certificate for the finished product and exact lot; check status, panels, units, qualifiers, and report date.
- Format fit.
Route, onset, duration, ability to divide a serving, household storage, medicines, driving, workplace obligations, and prior reactions can matter more than a cost ratio.
- Condition and instructions.
Inspect the sealed package, warnings, storage, child-resistance instructions, device compatibility when applicable, and current recall notices.
- Complaint and return route.
Keep the receipt, package, report link, and seller information. Know who handles a defect, adverse event, or recall.

Do not turn cost per milligram into a potency contest
The per-100-milligram result is optional because many comparisons do not support it. It can show how two like-for-like packages price the same labeled total, but it cannot show the amount a person absorbs, the effect of a puff or bite, laboratory uncertainty, manufacturing consistency, contaminants, product condition, or whether the product fits a person's risk profile.
Higher labeled potency can increase the chance of unwanted or harmful effects. It is not a quality grade. A lower cost per labeled milligram may simply purchase more intoxicating material than the reader intends to use or store. Keep the desired format and the complete label decision ahead of the arithmetic.
Use the worksheet as a pause point, not a winner badge
- Write the exact product name rather than A, B, or C before making a decision.
- Save the receipt price and timestamp; do not preserve an old result as a current quote.
- Mark any unknown as unknown instead of copying a menu number into a package field.
- Reject comparisons across different routes, quantity units, cannabinoids, or label bases.
- Print or save the worksheet with the package and certificate notes when a purchase is material.
- If the cheapest result fails a source, lot, ingredient, storage, condition, or recall gate, it is not the best value.
